• Livestock require daily care, water, and feed.  Everyone realizes this, but for someone who has not raised livestock before or not at a production level scale, this change can be a serious lifestyle change.

• Your weekends will have a significant commitment now.  Holidays, too.

•  The work required to prepare for and go through severe weather adds additional hours and work duties.

• Think about whether you have employees who can help you address these needs. Is your family capable of assisting you or will you need to carry the burden alone?

• There will also be emergency situations that can alter plans quickly. You should always be thinking about back up plans and back up helpers that need to be in place.

• Finally, the investment you make when adding livestock is not something you can quickly move away from. The amount you will invest in these situations will probably require at least a 10-20 year commitment.
